Comparative advantage exists whenever opportunity costs differ     In the section on Comparative Advantage, we noted that gains from trade could be realized between two trading partners any time their opportunity costs differ, even if one has an absolute advantage in every area production.

    To the right is the same graph we used in the Comparative Advantage section to show that even though Kathy has an absolute advantage in the production of both Images and Pages, Jenn's opportunity cost for images in terms of pages is below that of Kathy's. For each additional image that Jenn produces, she only gives up half a page, while Kathy must give up an entire page for each added image she produces. Even though Kathy has an absolute advantage in the production of both images and pages, Jenn has a comparative advantage in the production of images.
